AWARDS and CRITERIA

Creative Leader: This individual or organization deserves honor and recognition for their commitment to and leadership in and through arts education. The nominee’s leadership achievements may include one or all, but not be limited to the following elements:

  • Motivating, inspiring, and influencing others to strengthen learning in the arts
  • Influencing/guiding programmatic systems to support equity in arts education
  • Staying current in arts education research to promote quality programs and meaningful learning opportunities

Artful Advocate: This individual or organization deserves honor and recognition for advocating to strengthen arts education. The nominee’s advocacy achievements may include one or all, but not be limited to the following elements:

  • Raising awareness of successes and achievements of student learning and growth in the arts
  • Raising awareness of the needs in arts education in the district
  • Influencing/guiding fellow educators in the district to promote quality instruction and learning opportunities

Artful Visionary: This individual or organization deserves honor and recognition for developing and implementing the district’s strategic arts education plan. The nominee’s strategic planning achievements may include one or all, but not be limited to the following elements:

  • Initiating the strategic planning process: gathering a committee of stakeholders, getting meetings organized, getting the plan written and approved
  • Implementing the strategic planning process: keeping the plan in motion, working on the action steps of the plan, keeping stakeholders informed of progress
  • Sustaining the strategic planning process: revising and adjusting as the plan is implemented

Creative Connector: This individual or organization deserves honor and recognition for fostering meaningful partnerships between the district and community stakeholders. The nominee’s partnership achievements may include one or all, but not be limited to the following elements:

  • Building relationships between community entities and the district
  • Strengthening student learning opportunities through connections with the community
  • Sustaining partnerships to develop deep relationships that grow each entity with reciprocal benefits: increasing learning opportunities for students, growing teachers’ content knowledge, increasing knowledge of pedagogy for organizations, creating artists, arts patrons, and arts appreciators.

Enduring Artful Learner: This individual or organization deserves honor and recognition for providing and/or engaging in meaningful, arts-relevant professional learning. The nominee’s professional learning achievements may include one or all, but not be limited to the following elements:

  • Participating in local, regional, and/or national arts association conferences, and/or regional and statewide networks for professional learning in the arts
  • Sharing with colleagues what they have learned through their professional learning experiences
  • Implementing new ideas and processes gained in their professional learning in their classroom/school/district to achieve gains in student learning and seeking new innovative approaches to programs and instruction.

Artistic Transformation: This student exemplifies the transformational impact of learning in the arts, to which all students deserve equitable access. The nominee’s narrative may include one or all, but not be limited to the following elements:

  • Artistic growth: demonstrating remarkable growth and persevering in artistic learning
  • Social-emotional growth: a change in the way they view themselves
  • Mindset growth: a change in the way they view their education, their community, the world, and others’ perspectives.
